Kim Rimbey, Ph.D., is an author, inventor, consultant, and lifelong math educator whose passion is helping teachers bring math to life. With over 30 years in Arizona’s public schools, Kim now travels the U.S., partnering with educators to make math teaching more engaging, visible, and deeply understood.
As the co-inventor of KP Ten-Frame Tiles and the author of several books—including Mastering Math Manipulatives, Seeing the Math You Teach, Meaningful Small Groups in Math, and The Amazing Ten-Frame series—Kim equips teachers with practical tools to transform math learning.
A National Board Certified teacher in Early Adolescent Mathematics, Kim often says that everything she needed to know about teaching, she learned in kindergarten. She takes the joy, curiosity, and concrete learning strategies of early childhood education and "grows them up" for students of all ages.
As an official Building Thinking Classrooms consultant, Kim collaborates with thought leaders like Peter Liljedahl, Steve Leinwand, and Sara Delano Moore but she insists that the most important work happens in classrooms. Teaching and coaching are the actions that create lasting impact—on every child, in every classroom, every moment of every day.
